    Lake District gateway

    Best pubs in Kendal

Kendal sits right at the southern gateway to the Lake District — the old market town where the fells start, on the rail line and the road in from Lancaster.

We haven't verified any Kendal pubs in person yet, so we're not going to pretend otherwise. This page exists to gauge interest before we make the trip. If you're after real, live-tracked beer gardens today, our verified pubs are all a short hop down the coast in Lancaster and Morecambe.

    On the line

Oxenholme Lake District station connects Kendal to the West Coast Main Line, with Lancaster a short ride south.

    Fells on the doorstep

Kendal is the traditional southern entry point into the Lake District National Park.

    Live tracking, elsewhere for now

Our real-time sun tracker currently covers verified pubs in Lancaster and Morecambe — Kendal isn't on it yet.

    Kendal coverage: not yet started

We list pubs after visiting them in person and verifying the garden, sun direction and details ourselves — the same standard we hold Lancaster and Morecambe to. No Kendal pub listings exist on Golden Pints yet, and we won't publish any until that visit happens.
