Best Beer Gardens in Morecambe — Seafront Pubs & Bay Views 2026

Morecambe has something Lancaster city centre can't match: westerly-facing beer gardens with unobstructed views across the bay to the Lake District. On a clear evening, watching the sun drop behind the Lakeland fells from a cold pint on the promenade is one of the best things you can do in Lancashire.

We track 8 beer gardens across Morecambe, Hest Bank, Glasson Dock and Bare — all verified in person. These are the best, ranked by setting, sun exposure, and overall quality. For a wider drinking guide beyond beer gardens, see all the best pubs in Morecambe.

    ☀️ Sunset tip

Morecambe's beer gardens face west — they're at their best from mid-afternoon onwards. For the full sunset experience, aim to be at The Midland Hotel or Hest Bank Inn around an hour before sunset. Our live tracker shows exactly when each garden catches sun.

Morecambe Beer Gardens — What Makes Them Special

Unlike Lancaster's city centre pubs, which face in all directions, most of Morecambe's best beer gardens face west — directly across the bay. That means they're generally quieter in the morning but come into their own from lunchtime onwards, and they're exceptional on summer evenings when the sun sets behind the Lake District.

The Midland Hotel is the standout — it's the most architecturally stunning building on the Lancashire coast, and the terrace is one of the best places to watch a sunset in the north of England. It's slightly more formal than the average seafront pub, but worth it.

For a more classic local pub feel, The Pier Hotel is hard to beat — live music every day, genuine community atmosphere, and a beer garden that gets the full westerly sun.

Beyond the Promenade — Hest Bank & Glasson Dock

If you're willing to drive a few miles, two of the best bay-view pubs aren't on Morecambe's promenade at all. The Hest Bank Inn, just north of Lancaster on the coastal road, has arguably the best beer garden in the whole area — huge, open, with sweeping bay views and far less footfall than the Morecambe seafront. Combine it with a walk along the Hest Bank coastal path.

The Dalton Arms in Glasson Dock is a different kind of gem — a village marina pub with a sheltered garden, boat views, and a very relaxed atmosphere. It's one of those places you stumble across and then tell everyone about.

Live Sun Tracking for Morecambe Pubs

Golden Pints tracks all 8 of these beer gardens with live sun data — so you can check exactly which ones are in direct sunlight right now, and how long the sun lasts. Because Morecambe's gardens are mostly west-facing, they'll generally show lower scores in the morning and higher scores from mid-afternoon. Our tracker accounts for this automatically.
